Central Serous Retinopathy (CSR)

CSR is a condition which affects the central macula and, therefore, the vision.

It results in an accumulation of fluid in blister-like fashion under the retina and involving the macula or central retina. Under normal conditions there is no fluid beneath the retina.

Vision is generally blurred while the condition exists, while images with the affected eye may appear smaller than with the normal eye.

In the vast majority of cases the condition is self-limiting and resolves spontaneously within a few weeks to months, but in some patients laser treatment is required. Generally speaking laser treatment is deferred for four months because of the high percentage of self healing.

This OCT scan shows a blister of fluid has accummulated
beneath the macula portion of the retina.

The angiogram photo shows the focal point of leakage resulting in a larger circular area of submacular fluid.
